Two years ago, I got stranded at Kozhikode railway station due to a hartal. Luckily for me, my cousin who lives there risked his life and took the trouble of picking me up from the station and driving all the way to his house. I’ve never gone out on a hartal day after that - out of fear.

If this Harthal continues, I think it would act as a dooms day for Kerala. Kerala is the only state in India that has not taken advantage of great economic growth in last 20 years. Malayalies to learn from West Bengal.

I hail from the land of strikes and hartals othewise also known and "God's own country". Well I do not have anything to do with any Hartal day but somthing which arouse out from the fear of Hartal.
I was going to appear for my CBSE board exams for 12th in the year 2000. My residence was at tellicherry which is 20 Km from Kannur Town, where i was supposed to appear for the exams. Due to frequent and lightening bands that can be called by any of the parties anytime of the year we decided that it was a better idea to shift our entire family to kannur just for one month. I do not know how many people do this kind of things but we did it.
Till then i thought of bands and hartals as only one more day of holiday for us students. But the pain and discomfort we experienced at this particular moment changed it all. Also, the indifference of the State Government to the Central Government Board exams made the going more tough for us, because if any strike happens when the State syllabus students are haveing their board exams then their exams will be postponed. But for CBSE (Central govt syllabus) students we will have to forgo the exams and appear the exam again as if we have failed in the particular subject on the particular day.......

I had heard non Malayalees telling, "Malayalees are Kolayalees (murderers). By calling for Harthals are we killing our industries, tourism, transportation and the life of common people? Even though I have been to many countries, no where I have seen Harthals. How can we call oursleves civilized? Can we feel proud of our State and happy to call ourselves educated people? Malayalees riseup to destroy those who destroy our State, common properties, our industries and tourism.

Stop Hartals... which cause great havoc to people in many ways why cant people uses a better way to protest than just causing loss in all aspects. Does this hartals make any sense, does any one know the damage cost by hartal to the economy. we are in the 21st century we dont need hartals.

Harthal should be baned by court in all respect.Call army to protest public, if politics playing up court orders.Media can help a lot more than this to eradicate it.We need strong boned leaders to serve public for there basic needs. We can save our kerala only if we come out from this 12th century.
